Multi-Disciplined Fire & Security Engineer (Service & Maintenance) – Midlands 

Role Purpose

As a Multi-Disciplined Fire & Security Engineer, you will be responsible for the service, maintenance, fault-finding and small remedial works across a variety of client sites. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience across multiple disciplines including Fire Alarm, Intruder, Access Control, CCTV and Emergency Lighting. Where experience is missing or requires development, structured training will be provided to bring you up to standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across: Fire Alarm, Intruder, Access Control, CCTV and Emergency Lighting systems
  • Complete fault diagnosis, rectification and minor repairs efficiently, aiming for first-time fixes
  • Undertake small works and remedials (device replacements, adjustments, upgrades, minor installations) where required
  • Accurately complete service reports, certificates and compliance paperwork via mobile/digital systems
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, compliance and health & safety at all times
  • Liaise professionally with customers and site contacts, providing clear updates and advice
  • Manage stock/van parts, keeping tools, test equipment and materials in good order
  • Participate in the on-call rota (1 week in 6), responding to emergency call-outs as required
  • Communicate effectively with the service desk, providing strong job notes and technical feedback to support resolution and trend analysis

Experience and Qualifications

Essential:

  • Proven field-based engineering experience within the fire and/or security sector
  • Competence in at least two or more of the following disciplines: Fire Alarm, Intruder, Access Control, CCTV, Emergency Lighting
  • Strong fault-finding capability and a practical, solutions-led mindset
  • Ability to work independently, manage your day, and prioritise workload effectively
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable (not essential):

  • FIA, ECS/CSCS, IPAF, manufacturer training certificates
  • Familiarity with relevant British Standards (e.g., BS 5839, BS 5266)
  • Experience working in multi-site / national account environments
  • Experience with service management platforms and mobile reporting tools

Training & Development

We invest in engineers. If you’re missing a discipline or need upskilling in certain systems, we will provide a structured training plan, including on-the-job mentoring and formal courses where required.

Working Pattern

  • Standard working hours: typically 8am-4pm Monday to Friday
  • On-call rota: 1 week in 6
